Staging your Turkey Leftover
I don’t know about you, but I have yet to attend a Thanksgiving dinner that afterwards didn’t involve packing up tons of leftovers into Tupperware and plastic-wrapped dishes. When everyone rolls away from the table, you inevitable find yourself standing there, in the shadows of
mounds of leftovers. You really can’t wedge in another bite, and nor can your guests, but you can’t bring yourself to throw away all that good food. So what do you do with it? Here are some top tips to put your Thanksgiving leftovers to good use:
1. Recipes Abound - For many, leftovers are even better than the main meal. Lots of foods are better on the second day. But for those who had their fill the first night, there are tons of great leftover recipes out there to morph your turkey-day feast into a totally new second sitting – from ‘Leftover Thanksgiving Pie’ to ‘Leftover Mashed Potato Pancakes’. 2. Post-Thanksgiving Thanksgiving Party - Invite a group of friends over for a casual get-together featuring foods made with leftovers from Turkey Day. It’s an ideal time to entertain casually and in a relaxed style; and can provide a great opportunity to spend some time with friends or family that went elsewhere for the main event the night before. Since you’ve already hosted Thanksgiving, your house is clean and may need only a quick once-over before guests arrive.
3. Feed Those in Need - You can donate whole, untouched leftovers from parties to a local food bank or homeless shelter. What better way to commemorate Thanksgiving than to give to others? After all, that’s what the holiday is all about!
