Even though stagers may not has a dramatic impact as an architect & a real estate developer who can influence the making of a house directly, there are still a few ways that we can contribute to make it a greener & better world by advising the clients to do some of these things in a selling process:

1. Paint the home with eco-friendly paint:
   I am a big fan of Benjamin Moore‘s Aura line. Great colors, long-lasting, coats dry within the hour (saves time & labor costs), and eco-friendly. Not to mention very minimal odor which is great for both the people who apply the paint, and people who live in the environment. Price is also great, even beats the always cheap Kelly Moore (which I don’t personal like since the paint feels watered down).
2. 
   Decrease the volume of trash in landfill:
   one man’s (or woman’s) trash is another’s treasure. Freecycle is solely based on this idea and to decrease the size of our landfills. You can post what you need or what you no longer need on FreeCycle message boards and within a hour (or a day at most) you will get your wish fulfilled!
3. 
    Donate unwanted items to your local charity: Goodwill & Salvation Army are both great organizations and SA even will pick up for free if you have a big load. You also receive tax deductions on your donations. How cool is that? Your local schools or libraries will also take your old books.
4. 
   Recycle electronic waste properly: electronic waste is very toxic to our environment so the best thing to do is to recycle them properly. Go to eztradein.com to trade in your old electronics for paypal cash.
5. 
   Use eco-friendly cleaners:
   Our commercial cleaning agents are also a big source of toxic chemicals that are not only harmful to humans and also to our environment. There are now many green detergents that we can purchase such as 7th Generations is a great brand, as well as using natural remedies like vinegars to clean.
6. 
   For all other interior finishes:
   Visit your neighborhood Green vendors for more info. I see a lot of new carpet installation in prepping a home for sale. But most don’t realize that even if we use natural materials for the carpet, the glue is still toxic. Carpets can emit toxic off-gasing even after 7 years it’s installed!
