Diary of a Stager

Although I have moved Staged4more into its current location (3,600 square feet commercial building: see blog Angel Singing Moment!) for awhile now (umm like 6 months?), the warehouse still looks like a hot mess. (‘Tis the woe of a solo-preneur!)

Even though a lot of racks are up, I am still in the process of building more shelves to accommodate weird-shaping inventories like florals, tabletop accessories, etc. It feels like we are under construction every day! (And we actually are… Right now we are adding faucets in the front part of warehouse for a mini kitchen!) The kitchen cabinets you see are actually old kitchen cabinets from my parents’ house. They put in some new kitchen cabinets last year and I snagged the old ones from them since we can use extra storage, plus saving reusable items going to the landfill.

The neighbor also recently damaged our wall with their forklift:

You can see in the photographs that they had hit the wall with their forklift which caused bulging of the drywall between us. The posts are also cracked. Apparently this has happened before, last time they actually went through the wall with the forklift. So that was fun to deal with!

But lots of projects are still moving forward, so I am excited about that:
*I am on the verge of finishing my book (whew! Then I can go back to blogging)
*In developing our eco-friendly product: just got prototype from manufacturer. It looks good! Designers are working feverishly to get our eco-friendly packaging designed. I must say that using green packaging was A LOT more difficult and expensive than non-eco-friendly packaging. I was getting to the point of telling the designers just slap the thing in a piece of plastic already. But I am glad I didn’t since the final product & packaging will be well worth the pain.
*I am also adding green training for real estate professionals (agents, builders, inspectors, stagers, anyone who works in real estate!) this year. I will be doing monthly classes starting in late Feb or March. I recently finished the Green Building Science program courses and it’s fairly robust for a 1-day course.
*I am also excited that I should be finishing up with my 10-month Sustainable Building Advisor Course soon in May!

I really do think 2009 is an exciting year. New president, new business ventures, and YES WE CAN beat recession!!!

Cheers,
Cindy :)
