On the show today, we talked a lot about working with builders, different pricing models for home staging services and what it is like to stage homes for TV.
Let’s start the show!
Hey Kevin, thanks so much for being on today’s show! Before we get started, can you tell us a little bit about your business and what is your real estate market like?
What services do you offer?
When you take on a new home staging project, how do you decide what will work for the home?
Is your approach to the project different between different types of clients? For example, home sellers vs. home builders?
I know you work on occupied homes as well. At times, it can be challenging because the homeowner’s stuff can be very different than your inventory. How do you approach challenges like this?
What if the home has not been updated for a long time?
In your experiences, what are some of the common misunderstanding when it comes to staging the house?
How do you deal with that?
I know that you have worked on a lot of TV shows, like HGTV’s #1 rated show, “Flip or Flop,” Bravo’s “Flipping Out” and you are currently working with Jasmine Roth, Designer for her HGTV show “Hidden Potential.” What is it like to work on a television show?
And is your workflow very different compared to your normal staging jobs?
Do you price the TV projects differently than your regular staging projects?
How much creative control do you have when you are working on television shows?
I believe TV shows that feature staging has really helped us to build consumer awareness, but it can also create a lot of misconceptions. What are some of the behind-the-scenes stuff that viewers don’t know?
I know one of the biggest misconceptions created by TV shows is pricing. How do you structure your pricing for home staging projects?
What happens if you get pushed back from the clients on your pricing? How about when clients are not willing to stage?
What is the number one tip you will give to home sellers when it comes to staging their homes?
